As a student and teacher of the game, Mark often says, “Golf is not always about hitting the ball the farthest. Rather, it’s about minimizing your mistakes. The best players in golf tend to stick to the fundamentals of their game plan through the good and the bad.”
Mark believes these principles apply equally to investing. After spending several years as a professional golfer, Mark hung up his clubs to work as a financial analyst. Having invested over $750 million on behalf of a large corporation at a previous employer, Mark is familiar with the qualities separating great long-term investments from mediocre ones.
At Compass Capital, Mark equally enjoys getting to know his clients and their investments. “I love hearing about people’s background—how they got into a profession, where they have lived, what challenges they have, and their successes as they spend time with family, travel the world, get involved in a community, or take on new hobbies.” Mark is dedicated to finding the best investments for his clients, so they can enjoy more of their successes.
When Mark is not working or playing golf, you will find him tasting new wines, spending time with his family at the lake cabin or chasing his three children around Lake Calhoun.
