Mark Vitelli

Senior Portfolio Manager

Mark has run marathons in all kinds of weather – during downpours, in near-freezing temperatures and through blistering 90-degree heat. Such challenging conditions only add to the satisfaction of going the distance, Mark says. “No matter how much you prepare, the unexpected is always possible. You have to be able to adapt.” Those same dynamics attracted Mark to investment management over 25 years ago.

“Analyzing a company as a potential investment requires an understanding of that business, as well as the changing world around it,” Mark says. While admittedly analytical, Mark is equally personable. “I like getting to know my clients and establishing a level of trust that’s like being a member of the family,” he says. The desire to work more closely with clients drove Mark’s decision to move to Compass Capital from a major Wall Street-based investment house.
Mark brings a broad perspective to the Compass team stemming from his experience across the industry. From past roles as a bond analyst, economic analyst, university endowment portfolio manager, bank trust manager and more, Mark has seen it all. “This wide range of experiences helps me to understand my clients’ needs and how our investment approach is uniquely positioned to help them meet their goals. I am passionate about helping people and building relationships.”

A Twin Cities native, Mark and his family avidly enjoy all the region has to offer, including concerts, theater and sporting events. His son and daughter both play hockey, and Mark enjoys golfing and traveling with his family in his spare time.
