President
Phillip joined Compass in 2016 and currently serves as the President of the firm. In his previous role as Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations and contributing to its strategic direction. As President, Phillip provides thoughtful leadership and ensures the firm’s mission and values are reflected in every aspect of its operations. He works closely with the team to guide strategic initiatives and uphold the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional service to its clients.
Before joining Compass, Phillip spent 13 years at Merrill Lynch, where he served as Director of the Alternative Investments Division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York. In this role, he led a team specializing in business analytics, portfolio analysis, and sales strategy development. Phillip holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University and has earned the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.
Outside of his professional life, Phillip stays deeply engaged in both family and community. He finds great fulfillment in coaching his daughter’s youth softball team and serving as a board member of the CFA Society of Minnesota, where he leads as chair of the Membership Committee. A passionate traveler, Phillip loves to explore new destinations with his family, immersing themselves in cultures through food and wine. These personal experiences, along with his dedication to family and professional development, provide him with fresh insights and a broad perspective that enhance his work at Compass.
